Review guidelines

How to write a review people can trust

A short, friendly playbook for sharing your voice so other customers can find who to trust.

Write about something you actually paid for

Real reviews come from real customers. Only post about a product or service you bought, booked, or used yourself.

If you got the item free, won it, or were offered a discount in exchange for feedback, say so in the review. Honest beats polished every time.

Be specific

Specifics help other people decide. Vague praise and vague anger both get skipped.

Try to include things like:

  • What you ordered and when (a date or rough month helps)
  • How much you paid, if it is relevant
  • How the staff handled it (first names are fine, last names are not)
  • What went right, what went wrong, and what you would do next time

Stay on the subject

Review the business, product, or service. Not the person behind the counter as a human being, and not other reviewers.

A few things that cross the line and will be taken down:

  • Full names, phone numbers, home addresses, or photos of staff or other customers
  • Slurs, threats, harassment, or anything illegal
  • Accusations of crimes you cannot back up
  • Copy-pasted reviews, AI-generated filler, or the same review posted across many brands
  • Promo codes, affiliate links, or pitches for your own business

One review per brand

You get one review per business. If your experience changes, you can edit yours anytime from your account instead of posting a second one.

Updating is encouraged. If a company fixed a problem, come back and say so. If things got worse, update the star rating. The community sees the full picture that way.

Disclose conflicts

If you have a reason to be biased, tell the reader up front. It takes one sentence and it keeps your review credible.

  • You work for the company now or used to
  • You work for a competitor
  • You are related to the owner or an employee
  • You received the product free, at a steep discount, or in a promo
  • You were paid or offered rewards to leave feedback

What gets removed

We remove reviews that break the rules above. We also remove reviews that look fake, duplicated across accounts, or clearly written by someone who never used the service.

If a business can show that a review is not from a real customer, we will look into it and act. We do not remove reviews just because a company dislikes the star rating.

Report a review

Every review has a Report this review link right under it. Use it if something breaks these guidelines and tell us why in a sentence or two.

You can also email us directly. We read everything that comes in and get back to you.
