Account got randomly suspended

Autosave failed silently during a long session and recovering drafts from the local cache was not possible at all. Open source claims turned out to apply only to a stripped down community edition missing every feature anyone would want. No way to delete my data from their servers after cancellation despite a privacy policy that claims otherwise.

Collaboration is seamless

Mobile parity is real and I can actually complete the same tasks on my phone that I do at my desk. I found my new favorite productivity app and it only took one weekend of real usage to decide.

Decent but has quirks

Billing dashboard shows usage from last month but current month data lags by several days so forecasting is hard. Decent import tool brought in most of my data however images and embedded tables did not survive cleanly.

Setup took five minutes

Codebase appears clean because the UI never surprises me with inconsistent behavior between windows and dialogs. This hits the sweet spot between powerful and approachable without forcing me to read a thick manual.

Replaced three other apps

After switching from a bloated enterprise tool my morning routine finally stopped including a reboot.

VPN speeds are impressive

Even on a six year old laptop this stays snappy and never spins up the fans like competing apps do. A thoughtful onboarding flow walked me through the useful features without burying me in modal popups. Uptime has been rock solid for the entire year I have been paying for the professional tier.

Battery drain nightmare

Zero accountability from the team when a vulnerability was disclosed and the fix shipped only after public pressure. Buggy desktop client leaks file handles until my operating system refuses to open new windows and forces a reboot.

Linux build works great

Battery impact is barely measurable even when I leave the app running in the background all day long. Importing from an old competitor pulled every tag folder and attachment across cleanly within a few minutes.

Best note app in years

Free tier is generous enough that I used it for three months before finally paying because I wanted to support them.

Sync just works

Great sense of restraint in the feature set which keeps the sidebar from becoming the usual overwhelming menu wall.

Finally cancelled competitor subscription

Easy on the eyes with sensible defaults for typography line height and contrast that work out of the box.

Mobile parity is real

A quiet revelation to realize my morning startup script now takes seconds instead of the minute it used to require. Converted my whole team in two weeks because the shared workspace features removed friction we did not realize we had.

Smooth across all devices

Even without an account I could try the full feature set in a sandbox before committing a single email address.

Fast and reliable daily driver

Great fit for a small team because permissions are granular without turning admin work into a second job. Shipping updates monthly without breaking existing automations is rarer than it should be and I truly appreciate it. After switching from a bloated enterprise tool my morning routine finally stopped including a reboot.

Database queries feel instant

Snapshots every few minutes recovered an entire chapter after a careless undo chain ate my changes. Cross platform really means cross platform here and even the Linux build has feature parity with the Mac version.

Tags combined with filters give me a flexible organization system that beats the folder structure I abandoned.

Lacks keyboard support

Documentation is thin in exactly the places where the product behavior is least obvious to newcomers. Workable but not elegant describes most of my sessions and the elegance I crave shows up only occasionally. I like the ideas here however the execution lags behind the vision in several important areas.

Autosave saved my project

Fast enough for anything I throw at it including nested outlines and documents with hundreds of embedded images. Developer updates include changelogs that explain tradeoffs honestly rather than hiding regressions behind marketing language.

Updates improve things weekly

Diff view for revisions is clear enough that non technical teammates can actually review changes without my help.

Lost work after sync conflict

After a sync conflict the app silently deleted my notes without producing any backup copy I could recover. Memory usage climbed past four gigabytes with a dozen notes open which crashed my browser tabs in parallel.

Pricing feels honest

Workspace templates clone an entire project structure in one click which cut our client kickoff from hours to minutes.

Battery usage is tiny

It scales smoothly from my solo projects up to our shared startup workspace without any pricing surprises. File transfer speeds surprised me when moving a ten gigabyte archive between my two machines over the local network. Productivity jumped once I set up the shortcuts and templates for recurring report writing on Monday mornings.

Love the plugin ecosystem

Pdf export preserved every heading hyperlink and footnote exactly as it looked in the editor pane. Being able to run the same binary on every operating system removed a surprising amount of friction from onboarding.

Perfect for daily workflow

Searching across attachments pulled quotes from pdf invoices as reliably as from plain text notes. I used to live in spreadsheets and this replaced that entire workflow with something far easier to maintain. No telemetry by default meant I did not have to spend an afternoon disabling tracking before starting work.

Not bad not great

Billing surprise this quarter was not malicious but the plan page is confusing enough that it probably happens often. An integrated terminal is a nice touch but it does not fully replace my existing shell for anything complex.

Rock solid uptime

Perfect for daily workflow in a way that very few tools achieve without demanding significant customization first. Live cursors and comments on long documents feel smoother than any wiki I have used in the past decade.
